Gun Broker Ithaca Claims to be a Colt Frame

Does not look like one to me. I emailed the seller for photos without the grips....he refused, saying the serial number was proof of it having a Colt frame. No inspection period, no refund, no return. ...Might want to stay away from this one !!

Tuesday morning....He just added a photo without a grip

The ad indicates that it was one of the receivers bought from Colt, and not one of the reclaimed 1911 receivers from Springfield Armory. Even at that, Clawson indicates that the receivers bought from Colt are on pistols below serial number 870000, and the Ithaca for sale is in the 883XXX serial number range.

    I particularly like this one:

"Such frames on serial numbered Ithacas range from #856405 to #916404. Ithaca guns were marked FJA or Frank J. Atwood(inspector) who worked exclusively for Ithaca and Remington Rand and not for Colt."

Col. Frank J. Atwood worked exclusively for Ithaca and Remington Rand?

Even if the pistol had a Colt receiver, the asking price is ridiculously high for a refinished pistol.

He was moonlighting in the warehouse area, Army pay wasn't enough.

Really poor pictures and at that price he should call John Holbrook to take some decent pics!

Looking at the photos it also appears that Ithaca got a MSH from the Remington Rand facility. At least it comes with a possible reproduction box in excellent condition.
