    Springfield barrels in Ithacas

Clawson’s 3rd edition (p. 56) states that some Colt and Springfield barrels were used in early Ithaca production. Is there any other information and/or seasoned collector experience that points to how far into Ithaca’s serial numbers a Springfield barrel could be legitimately original?

I've never seen a Springfield barrel in an Ithaca that I thought was original. Have owned and examined many of their early pistols, but obviously not all of them.

Thanks, Scott. I saw an offiering last week on GB for an Ithaca in the 901k range that had an SP barrel; it also was double-stamped. The SP barrel along with the low SN double-stamp made me shy away.
