    WTK: WWII Boxes

Were all the 1911's boxes stamped Colt, Rem Rand and Ithaca or were the boxes blank?

Rem Rand and Ithaca boxes were marked. Rem Rand box markings were printed, not stamped. Colt was not maker marked. I'm not sure I've ever seen a genuine US&S box.

More than a few of the Protecta-Gun boxes have been used to create fake boxes. In talking with Bob Spatola he told about being ask if he would leave the company logo out of the bottom of the box, but knowing why they wanted it left out, refused. Look closely at some of the fake boxes and you can see where the logo was scratched off.

This is their Large Auto size box, and is virtually identical in size to the shipping boxes for the 1911A1.

Not looking for a box like that but it's good to know about fakes.

The boxes made by Protecta-Gun are excellent storage boxes, and come in a range of sizes. It is just a shame that the fakers use them to deceive.
