    Any information on a vertical R P barrel (not "H" P).

There is a barrel on a Colt 1911 posted on another sight that is marked with a vertical R P barrel (not H P). Does anyone know anything about this marking? I have never seen it mentioned before.

I would say a dinged up H, as the H was for the provisional inspector Frank Hosmer, and was found on the barrel, slide, and receiver.

      Johnny, it's definitely an R. It's on a Facebook 1911 site. Here is the photo:1911 barrel with R P instead of H P.jpg

            KeithNyst,

It would appear, that it is (most likely) not a mistake. I think it might be an Argentine inspection mark. Do you know if there is a pistol associated with it?

            Best Regards,

Stan, the poster says it is on a 1918 Colt 1911.
