The LGS just got in a real heartbreaker. It is a M1911 with a MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY slide. The heartbreaker is the frame has S/N NO 9808 on it. By my source this frame was shipped to San Antonio Arsenal, Texas on 11/1/12.

Haven't asked a price yet, and don't think the shop has decided on what to try to ask for it. Barrel is marked COLT .45 AUTO on the left side with a G in front of the lug.USMC 1969-1993 6333/8153/9999

Why a heartbreaker? That is a pistol with a story to tell..."There's a race of men that don't fit in,
A race that can't stay still;
So they break the hearts of kith and kin,
And they roam the world at will." - Robert ServiceComment

Are the slide and receiver still in original finish, or has it been refinished? Sadly, collector prices are based on originality and condition, and not the story the pistol tells. Slide could have been swapped at any time in the last 100 plus years, and barrel is 1911A1.Comment

Looks to be the original finish to me. Several years ago I bought a M1911 with the correct Army Slide and barrel that would have gone on this pistol..........wish I still had them. Funny part is it came from the same shop.Last edited by usmc69; 12-05-2015, 03:51.USMC 1969-1993 6333/8153/9999

That WW-2 Colt "G" barrel, depending on condition, would be easy to trade for a WW-1 barrel, I would think.Comment
