    Update about the Upgrade

For those who still don't know what happened, our vBulletin Board was version 4, and getting to be very long in the tooth. When our webhost removed PHP4 (PHP is the engine that runs our pages and functions) the forum crashed. Vbulletin 4 simply couldn't process anything with the new PHP 8. It couldn't even process the admin panel so we couldn't trouble shoot. For a long time, we thought our bloated database may have crashed. Once we understood the problem, Lyman ponied up for the new version 6. The problem then was getting out 3 GB database to import. It just couldn't. It exceeded the time and size limitations of MySql on the servers. Our webhost gave pretty good support giving us access to old PHP and doing pretty much whatever we asked of them but fixing vBulletin was outside their purview. Mike of the vBulletin support team on the other hand, put in many, many hours for us. We had to coordinate the right versions of PHP, MySql and vBulletin running on the servers at the same time, AND deal with the bloated database. The biggest problem with it turned out to the two gigabytes of pictures and videos posted over the last fifteen years. Getting the database to upgrade or import was like trying to herd a cow through a mouse hole. Mike moved the pictures and videos out of the database and onto a root folder. Yes, they still work. From there, the import worked and it just came down to some small problems. There are some new features and some old ones that may no longer be available, but we can adapt to that. At this point, I'm guess that the board will outlast me.

Many thanks to all you who have patiently (or impatiently) waited! Welcome home!

Looks kinda-sorta the same...now just gotta play with it to learn how to use it. I can't say it any better than all the thanks that have gone before, but I'll add my thanks to those.

With all the bounces along the way of getting this forum transferred to a new host I ended up with two quick link icons I click on. One is for the main forum. If I select this link I have to log on every time. The other link I set up was for the forums only, of which I stay logged on to. When ever I select this link I'm logged on and don't have to re-enter.

                    that is what I do,

I use chrome and google, and have a tile set up for jouster,
click the tile, and I go to the forum pages, already logged in,

Got it. I have been clicking the remember button every time. Just noticed that if I click on Big CSP logo at top, I am in. Thanks

About a year ago, after not being able to log on for some time, I quit trying. Recently, I remembered this site and tried again. I'm glad to see you all back up and running.
I'm mainly a lurker, but will contribute when I can. I'm a 40+ year collector of mostly WWII firearms.
                          Regards,
                          James

I think the looky loos come here and basically find an empty site devoid of any information and move on. Maybe if we reverse engineer CSP/ Jouster by reposting old information that we have saved, to build up a recerence database it may be new to the drive-bys and start a conversation. It may be old and dated to us, but new to others.
