30-06 ammo purchased today. Who made it?

30-06 ball ammo on a 250 round cloth belt with metal starter tabs. Headstamp is K with date of 53.

    No other markings.

Got it for 70 cents a round. Hope I didn't over pay......
Enfield, everything else is just a rifle. Unless it's a Garand.

Kynoch, the CMP sold a lot of it.It's corrosive and there have been problems with it.There are many posts on the CMP Forums on quality of it,here's one-

Yup as JBin said there are problems with it. Pressure and brittle brass are not a good combination along with it being corrosive primed.

Hmmmmmm. Don't look good, if this bad I don't want to knowingly pass on a problem to others. Would it be OK in a M1917 or 03A3, or just a problem in Garands.

May just end up breaking it down into components......I have a couple thousand once fired 30-06 cases about.

The major reported problem was head separations.Bad news in anything shoulder fired for rifle and shooter. The belts themselves will bring $30-35,one way to get part of your money back.

Pull it down for the bullets and sell the belt.

A+ on pull it down. Weight the charge in several rounds so if the powder is ok you can reload with it.
