cartridge identification

The photos show from left to right 1) factory 357 magnum, unknown cartridge and 357 maximum. The middle cartridge has the 357 maximum headstamp and has a star type crimp like a blank or shot load.

can anyone I.D. the middle cartridge ?

A tear gas launching cartridge. There was a company who made the units to fit over a revolver very similar to a launching unit for a rifle. The canister was a small one and the launching was with the cartridge you have. More for crowd control then home entry.
