I have both. I use both. My reference to the rotary tumbler was for the SS pins and soapy water solution. Don't think the vib will work with that.

How would SS pins work on brass discolored by annealing?

SS pins will make them look like virgin brass

But you did have to take time to look at each case to see if any medium entered a flash hole. When I used corncob media, out of about 120 shells tumbled, there was always three of four shells that had a grain of corncob in it.

Yes, I did look at each one. The crushed nut shells are mostly uniform size and didn't seem to stick inside the flash hole. I'll pick up some SS pins later today and see how well they handle the discolored brass.

I'm on my 3rd vibratory tumbler in 10 years. About to give them up. 1st 2 were Franklin Armory and they lasted about 3 yrs each. Then I bought a Harbor freight Chinese (identical, except color) model for 1/2 cost. Just died on me. 3 years. I'm going to settle on a Thumblers tumbler that I've had for 30 years only in a bit larger capacity and quit fooling around.

Dillon makes a king size vibratory tumbler.

Thumler's makes a big vibratory as well. I'd go with theirs before Dillon. Dillon is just slapping their name on someone elses product and padding the price. Thumler's business is polishers. Its their own.
