    Need info and value of this derringer.

    A friend of mine has had it for about thirty years and was wondering what it is and it's value. Ray

    Thousands of that style boot/pocket pistol made by dozens of makers in many countries....quality ranging from superb to crude.

    That one looks like it was a decent piece in it's day...What does the engraving on the left grip say?..(looks French)

        There is a faint Maker's Name above the Location (de St. Etienne - of St. Etienne).

          Comparing the proof marks to those in known references will give you an idea as to country of origin. The odds would have it that it's Belgian as that was the most prolific producer of the cap lock era, but you never know. St. Etienne sounds French of course, but Belgian makers would stamp any name the buyer wanted.
