    ALVIN YORK Douglas V. Mastriano

Interested in opinions of those who may have read this book. Got this primarily because it is the most recent bio.of York (2014) I am aware of. What I did not know and was interesting was the author had researched and located the site of York's battle of 8 Oct 1918. The section relating the research, discovery and excavation of the site was covered well and was convincing. It appears the author had even found the casings of individual weapons (including York's) and various other artifacts which seem to confirm location. Beyond reading the book, I have heard nothing more of analysis or comments concerning the discoveries recounted in the book. The rest of the book was well written, a long overdue
update for a man who remains part of our history.

Good book and glad Col. Mastriano excavated the sight. Sgt. York had his doubters and critics who questioned whether he could have done what he did. Mastriano work should help put that to rest.
