    Question about selling primers

I have almost 5000 small rifle primers that I need to sell because I don't need them anymore. I was wondering what the law said about selling them. Is it legal to post a "for sale" here and then ship them by UPS across state lines? If anyone knows what laws relate to this please let me know.

Primers can be sold like any other cartridge component. BUT, shipping will most likely be a deal killer because they are subject to a HAZMAT fee. You'd have to check with your local UPS hub to see how much that would be.

Most mail order places charge $25 - $28 for hazmat fees - internet ordering people are used to it - so don't worry about working into price

Mail order places, and your local gun store, are able to pro-rate the HAZMAT costs. But that's something you cannot do unless you sell all 5 cartons to one person.

I think you have to be a certified Hazmat shipper to ship them.

Most UPS or FedEx hubs will have a certified HAZMAT person on site. But if they don't, you can certify yourself, on line, for free. But for a one-time thing like this, it's hardly worth you time. You will still have to pay the HAZMAT fee regardless.
