1886/93 French Lebel 8x50R mm.
1889 production, St. Etienne Arsenal. N ball stamped. This rifle is NOT import marked. This rifle looks to be a wartime production using battlefield damaged surplus rifles to build complete rifles. It is mis-matched with different serial numbers. The barrel and receiver are (L57744). Has several arsenal wood repairs in the stock but no splits/cracks or major gouges. Metal condition is mostly patina with some blueing remaining. No major pitting on the firearm. The bore has fair rifling that could use a deep cleaning.
The rifle is complete and intact and fully functional.
This Lebel is a good shooter, that still has lots of life in it. A nice example of a rifle that served during the Great War.
