Kind of a romantic, interesting gun to own, conjures up visions of innumerable Mexican bandit and Revolution films. Ye Old Hunter used to sell them in poor condition and they were popular for sporting rifle conversions. I don't think many survived in issue condition because they had been beaten pretty badly. I saw a beautiful one in a gunshop in Lewisville, Texas, the problem was it looked brand new in all respects. I thought it was just too perfect. Looked reblued and was possibly restocked with other Mauser parts. It may have been a restored sporter. -
