I think the slaves should be paid reparations.

The political party that defended slavery before the Civil War, that led the slave states out of the Union, and fought the war to preserve slavery ought to frankly admit its guilt and apologize. Then it should give it's party treasury and all the campaign funds of its members to the descendants of the slaves. And then it should disband, and all serving members resign from office..
