    Sid.

My father in law stayed in one for a while and for him he found it depressing and people kept dying around him. He moved to an apartment which he shares with a room mate. He is now 88.

Perhaps if you took your little "friend" in with you they would be more accommodating.

All of the retirement homes in my area do not allow any firearms on the premises. If the find one they will kick you out. It's more more aggravation that bothers me about these places.

Again, if you could find someone trustworthy (a friend of a friend of a friend) to come in to your home to cook, clean, do the laundry and etc. you could stay in your home for a few more years--it could be like a bed and breakfast atmosphere. Later if you and your wife become bedridden and have no choice but to move to a full care type rest home you won't care about your guns. Just my .02 worth, I know I would want to stay home as long as possible myself.

A few years ago while in the adult area only on a cruise ship I met a gaggle of seniors who put all their stuff in storage and lived on different cruise ships. It was cheaper by a lot then any assisted living center. They picked up their meds if need in Mexico, had great chow, room service, maid service and plenty of activities.

I used to work with a guy who bought the newest car, snowmobile, boat, motorcycle, etc.
I'd say to him aren't you going to save anything for your retirement?
he'd say "the only difference between me and you and when we are in the nursing home you will be paying $6200 a month for care and I'll be on Minnesota Care and they will ROLL US OVER once a day at the same time!"

My advice would be to look at places far outside the Philadelphia area... Phila, Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties are about the most expensive in the state.
My 92 YO mother is in an assisted living in I think its Whitehall Pa. Same deal. 3 levels of care. independent, assisted, and total care. I think we are paying just under $2800k a month. The care is superb, and the staff is wonderful.

It had better be the best care in the galaxy for two million, eight hundred thousand a month!

That's the good scenario. I hope to hell I don't end up attached to a tube for any period of time. My beautiful neighbors husband walked into the house, sat down in the Lazy-Boy and died. I'd pay good money for that.

When I go, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my uncle did. Not kicking and screaming like the other people in his car.
