Any Winchester 284 or 284 Shehane shooters on here

Just burned up a 300WM. Have another barrel blank to run it as a 300 WM again. After that I was thinking about getting a 7mm stick and turning it into a 284 win or 284 Shehan. Anyone run one of these with 180 pills. Is barrel life 2000 ish. Was it a hammer.

    THANKS

The only activity that I see for the 284 is the 1000 yard competitors who neck it down to 6.5 mm to gain sectional density and ballistic coefficient. How did you "burn up" a 300WM barrel? Just asking. Regards, Clark

Old hunting partner had a .284 Win. on a Mexican Mauser. Did the job on elk and deer.

First step. Obtain a quantity of brass. The rest is easy.

I'd rethink the .284 Win. Winchester only loads it when they feel like it according to Midway. Graf's shows PCI ammo as not available either.
No brass at Midway. Graf's says Quality is out of stock. $35.59 per 20 when they do have it.
Lots of 6.5-284 brass for necking up to .284 Shehane at Graf's, but not cheap. Hornady runs $61.99 per 50, $141.99 per 100 for over priced Lapua, $36.99 per 25 for Norma and $59.99 per 50 for a bag of No$ler($10 more to have it come in a box.).
Your .300 Mag bolt face will be too big. The Shehane uses a regular .308 bolt face.
Dunno about barrel life, but you're talking ~ 3,000 FPS with a 180 grain bullet. Barrel life is a relative thing anyway. Accuracy means different things to different shooters.
        Spelling and grammar count!
