The AR is a lot more popular than it was 30 years ago. That may have something to do with it. The idea is out there for the disturbed people, "if you want to hurt a lot of people quickly, here is another way to go about it."
How much of it is an increase in anti-social tendencies in the population, and how much of it is that people just have greater access to knowledge and firepower, I think it is hard to say. But even sickos can learn things, and every big shooting is a case study for the next guy.Comment

No, it's not hard to say. In 1907, a murderous kid could have equipped himself with a .351 Winchester semi-auto, with a 10-shot detachable mag; not quite the firepower of an AR with a 20 round mag, but lethal enough. It didn't happen.

What's mysterious about a rotten, degenerate, popular culture, indulgent of ALL depravities from drug use to porno to sodomy, producing rotten, degenerate, kids? When "tolerance" has been made the No. 1 virtue in a society, Parkland, etc., is the inevitable result.Comment

there is no question how we got here, you and your liberal friends forced bad ideas on everyone, and here we are!Comment

No difference, then, between a culture that condemns & punishes vice and one that condones it? Or in the case of sodomy, CELEBRATES it? Where there are human beings, there will you find vice & depravity; the existential question for any culture is, how can its detrimental effects on society be minimized? That effort isn't made when tolerance is held up as the supreme virtue.Comment

I'm surprised at that! You must have led an under privileged childhood or had no friends. You never played connect the dots using more than one book at a time? I'm being facetious of course. CH obviously drifted away from the gun angle and commented about 'heathens' in general. You got that...I know you did.2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

One thing 'we' didn't have are psychotrophic(sp) drugs. Notice how much money Big Pharma spends on advertising; you think the LSM will ever do a serious expose on that?Comment

Not directly, "cause & effect," but both are symptomatic of the SAME disintegration of the social restraints evolved over generations to minimize social conflicts. When a society says, through its media, "if it feels good, do it," when sexual deviants, joined by politicians, parade in the streets, it's no great leap to feel justified in expressing your anger at society by shooting up a school.Comment

Why should happy people shoot anyone, now homosexuals is a horse of a different color.

More homosexuals have died from AIDS than from mass shootings, yet the homosexuals came out of the AIDS plague smelling like a rose, those who pointed out that their suffering was due to their lifestyle, their bad choices, their moral failings were shouted down. "Homophobic" is the word. While mass shootings are blamed on gun ownership and many think no gun ownership is the answer.Comment
