CMP 1911 prices and order procedures have been posted.

Service Grade pistols are $1050... One pistol per person...

I wish they would have done this with the M-1's. Good ones would still be available. Instead, dealers and speculators wound up with way too many of them. How many Garand matches were held in 1988 and how many will be held in 2018?

Maybe the Turkish Army will finally turn over the 110,000 M1s to CMP.

The prices are not bad if you have looked at GI 1911s in gun stores and at the gun shows. If you want a gun to shoot and don't care if it was GI issue, then yes, you can buy a beand new better shooter for a good deal less money.

Personally if they decide to accept serial number requests I am interested in a serial number at least similar to one I had, and I have two custody cards... Otherwise I think I am not in this one.

But it's an ok deal for the serious collector, IMO.

looking at GI pistol in a store, you know what you are getting. my own opinion is many will be sorely dissapointed in these pistols.
