Anybody know what's going on with the COTS?

    Here is the story.

In a policy memo issued quietly in late May, the Department of Defense prohibited the U.S Marine Corps from continuing to purchase and use commercial off-the-shelf drones, known at COTS, after cybersecurity vulnerabilities were exposed.

Well it reads as though the USMC tried to cut through some acquisition red tape, using a product that others have flagged with potential insecurities. Can these drones contact the Mother Ship in Beijing and send an upload? Probably not, but DoD wants I's dotted and T's crossed.

Perhaps it's a matter of the enemy picking up on the signal and knowing exactly where and what you're looking at?

The Military/Industrial Complex doesn't like stuff that doesn't cost millions of dollars and doesn't come from their warehouses. And it has to be over complicated.

Wasn't there also something else a while back about service personnel buying electronic parts from Radio Shack?
