ARVN veterans parade unit at Portland Veterans Day parade.

These guys formed up just behind us in staging, then marched out ahead. Mostly ARVN, but at least one Navy and some Vietnamese special forces. Those guys were pretty big and still looked in good shape. I wonder if they were Nungs?

I went over and shook hands, we're all veterans now and coming to the end of our circle.

I probably know one or two of them -- I was an adviser to the 18th ARVN Division in '66 and '67.

The area in 'Nam where I was was lousy with the Mike Force Vietnamese guys. Never talked to one but they did look like ass kickin' guys.

For the fight at Nui Chua Chan, the ARVN were carrying a thousand rounds apiece -- and this was .30 cal, on 8-round clips.

What a wonderful sight to see.

Vern, I might know some of them too, ARVN 18th Div 67-68. They had a reunion in San Jose 2 yrs ago, ARVN Cav. but only a few from the 5th and after my time. They said our Pledge of Allegence first and then the Vietnamese one. They played our National anthem first and then the Vietnamese one. I heard they (18th Div) had a reunion in Seattle about 10 years ago, I would have gone if I had known, like to know what happened to my old Bn commander(3/48th) last heard of in a"re-education" camp.
