What is not said, is whether or not the pistols will be loaded. Given that four years ago, a terrorist shot and killed a soldier guarding the National War Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier here in Ottawa, I would hope that they will be. Although our guards had rifles, they were unloaded and hence useless - but who would have expected an attack there and with all the tourists around would anybody want to see a gunfight with M-16s /C8s?. The typical Canadian response was to post a police officer at the site to guard the guards.

      I'd rather have an M1911A1.

Foreign pistols guarding our unknowns. As beautiful and they are, I think we could have accepted similar or better from an American maker. This is right up there with "Vietnam Veteran" hats being made in Vietnam, or that time US Army berets were made in China.
Kraut pistols looking after a couple of those killed by Krauts. I sense some irony there.
          2016 Chicago Cubs. MLB Champions!

I hope they do not come out with a civilian version, those 4 should be the only ones.

I agree with JB. It should be an American made gun for Pete's sake. Might as well have foreign made rifles also. It's not that we don't make pistols in this country, Ray

Soldiers needing police protection because they are put on duty with no ammunition....sounds like down here.
