Anyone know M1917 bayonets in detail?

This one is currently in my possession but belongs to a friend in the UK. He sent it my way for a closer look.
Take a look please? Give me your honest impression? I'd rather not disclose my own at this point for fear of influence.

It's a mismarked (1918) Remington. Pics to follow from my phone. The surface rust from the throat spring needs to be addressed.

I haven't looked at the site in quite a while, but I did look back at his book along with a few others. It isn't that I don't know what it is. It's something I suspect in regard to condition. I'd like to find out if others see the same, or perhaps I'm just being too strict in regard to suspicions.

In other words, if you were buying...how would you grade this piece?

The pictures are too small for me to give you a good value but I'm seeing them on EBAY starting bid now at $145.

I can’t see the pics good enough. It has later two slot grips, but were not talking about a restamped British Bayonet versus a Remington ground up Bayonet correct. I’d pay more for an over stamp Brit, but the next guy might feel exactly the opposite. $150.00 or under as a buyer usually for Remington with scabbard. $175.00 or under for an over stamp.

The pics can be expanded. I'll just say what I think. Looks to me to be a refurbished bayonet. The markings on the ricasso are faded out.
It was in nice shape until someone decided to make it a little bit "better".

There is black paint chipping off the shiney brass hooks and staples.

The scabbard paint is somewhat glossy and a shade darker than I'm used to seeing.

The grips have too much gloss to them.

Overall I would expect to see more patina in certain areas.

I suspect the scabbard was repainted nicely to look new. Or, it was in great shape and someone rubbed linseed or tung oil into it.
The brass as mentioned was cleaned and carefully painted over
The grips have been refinished with LinSpeed or similar.

He probably paid too much for a like new condition bayonet.

Even refurbished, that is a nice set. The 1918 dated ones get snatched up quickly. I would expect it to go in the $200 range on ebay

TO ME.and NO expert am I . Finish looks original, not refinished. As I recall when the P14 was discontinued to tool up for the M1917, any blades in stock
would be remarked with US designation . Any P14 stamped with English markings would have been overstamped as well . The . blue hilt, if refinished would have
been parkerized as well . Very handsome blade
