    Hazmat fee

I'm considering selling some gun powder (2-8oz cans of IMR SR4759). I assume this has to be declared a hazardous item. So, how do I figure the cost of the fee? Where do I get the hazmat certification? I'm not trying to make money on this, it's just powder I have no further use for.

chat up the folks at a UPS or Fed Ex hub,
they may be able to tell you the process,

it will have to go ground, and will only be processed at a hub, (NOT a UPS store)

best bet would be to sell locally, if you have a market for it

It will have to be externally marked with the appropriate sticker and shipped as ORM-D. If I remember right this "fee" is $30.00 + shipping. Lyman is right, just sell it locally would be more practical. I got in 48lb of surplus WC-842 from Jeff and the fee + shp was about $60.00. This averaged out to about $16.50 per pound which is not bad!

Is the fee for shipping small arms ammo also $30.00?

From my understanding HazMat is HazMat.

powders primers and some chemicals are Haz Mat,

            ammo is not,

it ships Ground, with the Limited Quantity (that phrase replaced ORM D)

the only fee is what it costs to ship

              +1 on local sale.

Powder is as almost as precious now as ammunition so plenty of folks would eat the shipping cost to get it, but I agree with Lyman on this one.
