this it will make the numbers posted??

Another highlight from the estate is a 1911 semi-automatic, 0.45-caliber pistol, with an estimate of between US$100,000 and US$150,000.

Al Capone may have died nearly 75 years ago but it's clear interest in the infamous Chicago gangster is very much alive after some of his prized possessions were auctioned off over the weekend for at ...

Looks like it has a Micro rear sight, and I believe Micro dates to 1947 which is 16 years after Al went to prison. Looks like a parts gun.

Capone died in 1947 at home with his gun. Released from prison in 1939.

The Colt single action said to have been used by Pat Garret to kill billy the kid. six million.
The 50-70 trapdoor Springfield sporting rifle that was buried with wild Bill Hickok then removed from the coffin when he was moved to Mt. Moriah cemetery over 400.000. Bet it was rusty.

Think maybe on his deathbed he told the family to have Micro sights put on his pistol as soon as Micro went into business?

Since he had the mind of a 12 year old at time of death due to syphilis I doubt it but anyone in the guns possession from 1947 till now could have. The gun had been openly modified with the engraved slide, stippled frame, grips and apparent re-blue. The rear sight may have been a replacement for a broken previous target rear sight used by Capone, who knows?

No where on the auction site have I seen that the gun is suppose to be EXACTLY like it was when owned by Capone. That doesn't make it "not Capone's gun".

Whoever paid close to $1 million for it seems to be OK with it.

Jesse James mother sold his revolvers, and when she sold out she bought some more to sell.

The frame is a first year production, and the slide is 1920 or later.

I have a few guns that could be considered parts guns or not in factory original condition. Nevertheless, they are still mine.

Then there is the old story of Jesse James? mother . . . .
She is said to have sold many, many, many guns that ?she said? belonged to her outlaw son!
(Here we go with query marks instead of quotation and apostrophe marks . . . .AGAIN)

Not unusual at all for military guns to be mis-matched, but highly unusual for commercial guns, regardless of ownership.
