I took the bluing off my Uberti Walker ...

Only about two inches at muzzle end of barrel. I squirted it with a
general kitchen cleaner during cleaning and saw the blue vanish just
as soon as the cleaner hit it. I dropped it in the hot water which arrested
further damage. I couldn't believe it as I'd used the cleaner on my BP
cartridge rifles with no bad results. It also had no affect on my 91 Mauser
so they obviously did a better bluing job way back when. I don't know much
if anything about the bluing process so I can't even guess as to why the
blueing was so thin ? weak ? or maybe it's not bluing at all ?

Can't recall name of cleaner - got it from dollar store.
Walker still goes bang but she's not quite so pretty.
        Going bang is more important.

So now it has that Old Time look.
If I should die before I wake...great,a little more sleep.
