    '87 incident, declassified in 2018.

    Reminder that having friends is a good thing. These Swedish pilots don't act like they liked America just for the Baywatch and The Apprentice reruns.

          Thank you for this post! First I've ever heard of this. Surprised loss of one engine resulted in such a serious issue. Not surprised russian planes reacted in such a predatory manner. After all, they have a history of blasting planes out of the sky without any regard for international standards. Swedish intervention was everything one would expect of a real world ally.               When I was coming back from 'Nam, we landed on Okinawa and we witnessed an SR71 take off. Immediately a security person (Okinawan) wanted to confiscate all our cameras as we were photographing the takeoff. Naturally we told him to 'shove it' and we boarded out plane!
