US reporters have no clue about anything military related

Ukrainian rescuers removed a 500-kilogram air-dropped bomb from the roof of a residential building in Kharkiv on Thursday. (Jun 23) AP

Quote: An FAB-500 is a heavy-duty, unguided, high-explosive bomb carrying 300 kg of explosives. It could have destroyed the whole building, but fortunately it didn't work. Quote

A 300 kg bomb is a little larger than a US MK-81 500 lb bomb. There is no doubt that it would do great harm but to flatten a city block sized building is nonsense. Back in the 1970?s a lot of larger bombs went off aboard the USS Forestal and did not come close to sinking it.

Quote: A total of ten bombs exploded during the fire. Bodies and debris were hurled as far as the bow of the ship. In less than five minutes, seven or eight 1,000-pound bombs, one 750-pound bomb, one 500-pound (227 kg) bomb, and several missile and rocket warheads heated by the fire exploded with varying degrees of violence. I forgot if it was the "Desert Storm" or the "Desert Shield" war but on the nightly news Dan Rather talked about U.S. pilots flying M-16's. I guess if witches can fly with a broom a man can fly with an M-16.

Obviously he meant F-16 but it was written down in his notes and he recited it from the notes so at least 2 people screwed up. Then, he said it with such importance that made it funny.
