    Made In Arkansas: HIMARS

Nice short vid on the Lockheed-Martin weapons system built in Arkansas and making a big statement on the Ukrainian battlefield. From Russian cell phone intercepts it is a big topic with the folks back home in the Motherland too.

They are made at the old Shumaker Naval Ammunition Depot in Camden, Arkansas. The NAD was built at the end of WWII to manufacture a variety of munitions, and had a 20 mile long by 1 mile wide test range. Now there is a variety of contractors there.

The facility is actually in the boonies near East Camden. They used to produce 8 inch shells for heavy cruisers. Seems there was a pretty significant explosion there thirty or forty years ago that left a sizable hole in the ground.

When Shumaker was built it was across the river from Camden, and as Shumaker was developed it was called Billkitts Rental Development. In later years it became incorporated as East Camden.
