Virginia is full of history. I used to belong to a hunt club in Gloucester County, and there was a road there named "Devil Three Jump Road." I never did find out the reason for that name.

That is a great discovery. It kind of hits you when you stumble across some real history. The headstone is in great shape. Here in AZ, up around Flagstaff the Babbit family ran quite a ranch. There still is a Babbit mercantile kind of store in town.
So, we were camping up there and I went for a hike across a big pasture towards this pretty ugly stuccoed cabin. At the doorway was a concrete slap with 'Babbit co. 19xx(I don't remember the actual date,but it was early). No one had stolen it. There was a side story, but that's for later. The Babbit co. is still in order and has celebrated it 135th anniversary. If anyone actually named Babbit attended, I don't know. Bruce Babbit was one of our governors.

At Yorktown, Tarleton commanded a post at Tyndal's Point, across the river from Yorktown. He tried to break out when Cornwallis surrendered, but was stopped by the Gloster Rifles, local militia. The Gloster Rifles are now part of the Virginia State Guard, and train within sight of the historical marker commemorating that fight.
