Choosing the best pellet for your air rifle ...

Luckily, pellets are reasonably cheap or I'd be in the poor house by now.
After buying numerous cans of different shaped pellets, I've decided the
Straton Diablo is the most accurate for my Bear River TPR 1300 177.
So what do I do with all the rejected shapes ?
And, I've yet to start figuring out the best one for my 22 Ruger

I normally bench test pellets with a known-to-be-to-me accurate gun, with a clear, reliable, repeatable scope.

Marketing can vary for the Straton- some places they are sold as CZ, other geographic areas have them sold as JSB. No matter- they all come from the same maker with a good reputation for quality.

One of the better pellets for me in .22 has been the 16 gr Polymag Predator, again, made by CZ/JSB.
The Gamo Red-fire in both .177 and .22 has been fairly consistent as well. I would avoid the blue-tipped non-lead versions that Gamo advertises as hyper velocity. I've had poor luck getting non-lead to group.

By all means, look for independent pellet reviews on the internet. Sometimes following general consensus helps.
There are quite a few airgun forums around, which would be a good place to start...

    Regards,

According to what I am reading and seeing, the lead pellet may become a thing of the past. Better stock up.

I was tempted to buy a pellet mold years ago, decided
against it as I was doing enough casting already.
I did buy some 22 reloading components - but never used them.
