How is it that stealing new cars is so easy ? ...

Lack of a key or the steering wheel lock used
to be the usual theft prevention method, although
hot wiring the older models would often work.
But new cars don't have the easy access to wiring
and how do you hot wire a computer module anyway ?
Presuming the reason for stealing is to sell what has
been stolen, then doing damage has to be ruled out.
So how easy is it to nick a Land Rover or other make?
I"n not thinking we have car thieves here on the forum
    but more like maybe Locksmiths.

Must be some real pro's out there. I can't even use the key to unlock the door on my truck w/o the alarm going off. I have to use the buttons on the door (code) or use the "unlock" button on the key fob.
