That's mine also, my nightstand gun is a S&W Model 27-2 Highway Patrolman.
I do have an appropriate long gun but it is there in the event of a natural catastrophic event like another big hurricane where things go south for weeks or longer. I am really interested in the results of this though, so far, and it is early, there is only one assault rifle clone on the list. I really don't like the term assault rifle for these civilianized versions, the folks who call them "modern sporting firearms" I think are more on track.Last edited by Art; 01-19-2024, 01:53.Comment

I've got a few old surplus military rifles, all chambered in .30-40 Krag or .30-06 Springfield or .308 Winchester. Any one of these would be fine. Probably would end up using one of my M-1 rifles w/ some nice M-2 ball. Sincerely. bruce." "Battle rifle". There's really no such thing as an "assault rifle".
I like the S&W 27's. Nice big "N" frame with a smooth action.Comment

Have to agree with dogtag. Large knife in the kitchen, 9mm near the computer along with a M1 carbine. Bedroom, 1911 in 45 ACP. Basement Garand.Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

I don't know! The only c/f rifle I have that is short enough to maneuver in here is my FR-8, and that's still pushing it on length.
Odd that the compact stoner variants aren't mentioned (yet).
About the only thing I have in here short enough for a 360 degree swing is my 94-22-M.
I think it's favorite 50 gr. JHP would speak with authority at the very limited ranges in here.
So I didn't cast a vote, just based on not really having a category that fits me.

I think your Model 94-22 would fit in the pistol caliber carbine category. Those are fine rifles by the way. I sort of regret not having bought one when they were available.I don't know! The weapon you use for defence depends on what
you're defending against. If it's night and I'm
in bed it's whatever is under the pillow. I'd be in
a fix here as under my pillow right now is a 22.
If it's daytime and I see him or them coming, it's
the 12 gauge with 8 in the tube and one chambered.
If it's a whole gang armed to the teeth, It's running shoes.Comment

Model 27 has a checkered top strap and barrel (polished blue or nickel). Model 28 (Highway Patrolman) has a dull matt blue finish. Model 27's usually come with the "3 T's".Comment
