Happy April Fools Day to you too.

What was more unbelievable than the USS Musk was the mention that the USS Constitution (built in 1797) would be disposed of.

I fell for it at first but what is really funny is that I texted this to some friends this morning that still work at the shipyard here (where I retired from) that is building CVN 80. They couldn't believe it and sent it to upper management. An hour later one of them reported that it was a good April fool joke...

If I had read the rest of the article I would have realized it....

The very first thing I thought about was that, like coins, ships are usually named after dead people.

        Thanks for posting !!!!

If the Navy can name ships after San Francisco homo Harvey Milk, farm labor activist Cesar Chavez and former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, I have absolutely no problem with them naming one the USS ELON MUSK. In any event, I suggest that Elon Musk is probably more deserving than the others.

I was going to suggest that before the ship got commissioned, it would be re-named but I wasn;t aware that it was a joke.
