How many of you remember the old Wilkins coffee commercials from 1957--1961? This was Jim Henson's introduction to the Muppet's. I don't think Kermit was ever mentioned by name back then and did look a little different.
These commercials were shown around the DC area and gained so much popularity that other coffee companies started using them. Here, I remember them as Red Diamond coffee commercials with most captions stating: "Things seem to happen to people who don't drink Red Diamond coffee."
Guess this type humor of a murderous Kermit wouldn't fly today. Harmless humor but my how things have changed. Now days you have to spell it out to children: "rolling a cannon in front of someone and blowing their head off is a no-no."
