    Uh Oh !

Starbucks has been building a new coffee shop in our town which seemed to be taking a really long time, and 7 Brew Coffee put up what appeared to be a pre-fab shop just a short distance down the street.. They had been working on the Starbucks for what seemed an awfully long time, as the 7 Brew put up their shop in a matter of days after the lot was prepared. It finally came out that the architect, builder, contractor or whom ever forgot to have water run to the building. Shouldn't take a genius to know that you have to have water to brew coffee and flush the toilet.

I wouldn't think SB would require that much water assuming the flushed toilet water would supply the coffee makers.

That is just about when this one was started.

One of the first things done on a new building is roughing in the plumbing, so hard to imagine how this could happen unless they have different crews as the construction progresses.

It is being built in a mall parking lot, and no dirt work other than removing blacktop for slab and trenching for plumbing was needed. Local regulations wouldn't allow construction to start without proper permitting. Wouldn't think it could already be in litigation if the job was waiting on plumbing to be installed so slab could be poured. The building is now finished, but apparently no water.

You'd think they might learn something from this.

Doesn't seem economically feasible, but have heard they use different contractors for different phases of construction.

7 Brew right down the street is doing a land office business. They are in a large parking lot where most of the businesses have closed, and not unusual to see lines 200 feet long there.

People can't make their own coffee any more?

I used SB only twice because they were the only place available at a hospital once and again in another place with a group. Here we talk about consistency...well, both instances were consistently burned taste. McD's too. I use Dunk'n Donuts decaff in my Mr. Coffee. I won't pay "their" price for burned coffee.

I never cast a shadow in a SB and don't intend to. I did try their coffee in the bag @ WM once. For me it was awful having a chemical taste to it. What they make in their shops has to be better.

Taste in coffee is somewhat like taste in music--everyone's going to have a different preference.

                        Light roast---you taste the coffee.

Med and dark roast---you taste the roast.

That being said, for my aging stomach and due to the fact I drink coffee black, what works for me is Folder's Simply Smooth. It is a somewhat PH balanced light roast. WM doesn't always have it so I order it directly from Smucker's via WM by the case of 6.

SB CEO: "we don't need no stinking water".

They have different flavored drinks, and apparently they appeal to young people.

Every Tuesday have lunch with several retirees and business owners, and Starbucks story was straight. One of the guys passes the location every day, and last week a large pile of dirt could be seen inside the building, and today a plumbing contractor truck was backed up to the building. Son is GM for the local water utility, and no application was ever made for service.

Someone may have received a bonus for coming in under budget.
