A couple guys I know were going on about how great a certain kind of Scotch was. I asked to taste just a cap full and... it tasted like DIRT!!! "You guys drink this on purpose???"
They were letting on I'm uncultured. Maybe so, but I'm not drinking that stuff again!Comment

When I was younger I worked for a Mom and Pop business that kinda halfway demanded we all go out and have drinks on them after work on a regular basis at a local bar. I was going through my stage of "everything gave me a hangover but not a buzz" stage of my life.
I found that scotch did not give me a hangover like whiskey/bourbon so I would order a scotch and Coke. The bartender thought that was hilarious, assured me no one had ever asked for one before, and came to know me by "Scotch and Coke". I always thought that was weird of him since scotch IS a whiskey.
After a short while I just started ordering a Coke and everyone assumed it was a mixed drink of sorts. Strange times.Comment

Boones Farm - a fave of poverty stricken college students. Only 98 cents the bottle when I was in. My gf really liked it!Comment

funny, had a convo with some folks about Boones farm not long ago,
a friend and I used to drink White Zin, she was 21+, I was not quite 21, so she went in and got a bottle,
we would drink it in the theater watching a movie
Elijah Craig in the glass tonight, 94 proof, and mighty good
many many years ago I was a 7 in 7 person,
Seagrams 7 and 7up,
not bad then, can't drink it nowComment

In my younger days when I was doing wine, it was Ripple, Spanada or Rhineskeller (aka ratkiller). Never did Boone's Farm. Don't much care for Scotch; remember having a terrible hangover once after drinking a bottle of JW Red. Drank a lot of beer, foreign and domestic, between the ages of 18 and 55; after that not so much. Always found that the best beer was that what was made locally.......Japan it was Kirin, Philippines it was San Miguel, Australia it was Fosters and in Seattle it was Rainier; here in California either Coors or Sierra Nevada IPA. Nowadays, might have a few shots of Jim Beam on occasion but, that's it. Beer makes me piss too much and feel bloated.Comment

local back in the day was Richard's Wild Irish Rose, IIRC it was made in Petersburg for a while,
granny had a bottle of Cold Duck in the fridge every Christmas, sometimes it was the same unopened one from the previous yearComment
