    A/C problem

I had what I thought was an adequate unit until the July heat wave and found it lacking. I am now looking for a larger unit and will move this one to my toy room. I have a dedicated 20-amp outlet and so will be going up to that. Will change to 220 if necessary...suggestions?

    you looking at window units?

would suggest a mini split , and chat with a HVAC person to get the right size

Had this in mind, still plenty of time to decide. Just wish I could "can" what I have on the deck for the summer!

Have you considered going with central air/heat? More $ sure but a lot quieter and efficient than those window units.

20-A could be border line, especially with some older window units. Going to 210-220 V should be un-necessary, unless you are doing a central air conversion.
We have found the floor mounted evaporator/de-humidifier unit with the flex hose going up to the window for exhaust a lot more energy efficient. (cheaper to run) The drip plate needs to be watched in times of high humidity, and emptied accordingly.
There should be a S/A capacity plate on the unit somewhere, and likely a sticker on the bottom showing power consumption.

Some units are more efficient than others. Do your homework before purchase.

Might look into mini-split, and you can run more than one evaporator off a single unit. Mounts on the wall without occupying a window.
