    Oh, hail!

A substantial hail storm rolled through just now & dumped a lot of ice rocks. My truck was under our walnut tree and got minimal damage if that. Last time we had the roof replaced, we went with "bulletproof" shingles supposedly rated for baseball size hail, so I'm not too concerned about it, either. Larger rocks shown are about ping-pong ball size. Notice neighbor across the street is parked on their lawn under a big tree- -standard drill for hail storms here. But at least we got some rain out of the deal! SW

We're all fortunate this isn't a more common occurrence and with even larger hail. Think of the damage that could happen.

We caught the edge of the storm here - older daughter was smack in the middle. Shown are golf ball size rocks, but she said there were baseball size just down the street. Those would trash a roof in no time flat! SW

We've had one noticeable hail drop. Here at our place, just pea size stones. Other areas of town got those golf ball sized stones. Lots of auto insurance claims in the city.
The mandatory provincial auto insurer is gonna take a huge hit this summer, and it's the rate payers that are gonna end up footing the bill. There's supposed to be an emergency contigency fund set aside for such events. Hopefully there's enough in it to keep rates with-in reason.

We've lived in this house 35+ years and had 2 roof replacements. Insurance co took a hard hit from that, so hail damage deductible is $1500 for us now. Down a bit since we went with heavy duty shingles.

Same ins co lost their butt from fires in Calif. Their solution was to jack to rates across the board severely. Well, I don't live there, so I'm not kicking in for their problems. The new & improved ins company has lower deductibles, lower premiums and are much easier to talk to. I'd tell somebody privately which one was which, but otherwise, I'm not selling home & auto ins. for anyone. SW

Several years back there was a heavy hail storm north of us. Springtime and trees had just put out new leaves, which the hail beat off and killed a number of the trees.

Well, I don't mind speaking up. I've had SF ins since I was 16. I've had it continuously since on my vehicles and mostly on my home. They screwed me badly during our last hurricane so I dropped them on the home owners but kept them on my vehicles. I also swapped agents since I got no help from the previous one.
