Red painted 38 stock?

Year ago I bought a 38 that has a stock painted Red.It has the mum intact,anyone have an idea why the stock would be painted?

I never heard of one being painted. Possibly something done for training purposes? Or maybe just some kook who liked his stocks to be red... Your guess is as good as mine.

I saw an M1 Carbine that was fire engine red with gold painted fittings.......I think it was from Santa's Elfen Honor Guard.
