    T2 Bayonet Info

Noted the interesting and expensive T2 bayonet in the For Sale Forum and thought you might like to see some official data on it from a January, 1946 report. Neat to see a really scarce item like that show up once in a while.

Thanks. An informative good read. I found the last section on the trench knives of particular interest.
I am an unashamed M3 knife fan. I had always assumed that the M3 was designed purely as a knife and when the need for a bayonet for the M1 Carbine came along the M3 knife design was adapted for this purpose to become the M4 bayonet. Unless I’ve got the wrong end of the stick it would appear from the pages above that the M3 was designed with the intention of it also becoming a bayonet?? Can I take it that whoever designed the M3 did so with a potential bayonet in mind?
Is it not better to place a question mark upon a problem while seeking an answer than to put the label `God` there and consider the matter closed? Joseph Lewis
