    Collins bolo info request

I have seen these m1905 bolos with & without the metal band at the hilt end (see picture). Can someone please explain the difference / reason for this. Also, were any of these ever made at the Springfield Arsenal? Thanks.

Springfield Aresenal did make Bolo Knives, which are marked SA. I can’t comment on the reason for the band. A friend of mine use to collect Rock Island Bolo Knives. He had one Springfield as an example. I can’t remember which model it was but I want to say it was the 1910 version. If you have time could you post blade and markings on yours.
