Identify a bayonet

Can anyone identify this bayonet and which weapon it was used on. The blade is exactly 7" long, It attaches to the weapon like the bayonets that were used in WWI on the trench shotguns, i.e. they do not have a ring around the end of the barrel. they attached on a tab that was below the barrel.
The grip appears to be similar to plastic and is black. On the hilt of the blade are the initials "AFH" and below that is "U" flaming bomb "S"

would have fit a 1903/1903A3 as well before it was altered,

looks like someone wanted a hunting or trench/fighting knife

Would have fit any rifle or shotgun the M1905 bayonet took. I think the AFH stands for American Fork and Hoe Co.

With no date it was most probably the Model M1 Bayonet which came out in 1943, and originally had a 10" blade. Until the M1 model came out the blades were dated.

I believe you are correct. This bayonet has been modified, beat up, misused, and abused. The attachment point on this bayonet had been damaged enough that it would not slide onto my Garand.

Oh the pain of it all. Yes it is a AFH M1 bayonet that someone cut up. Ruined a good bayonet.
