    Bayonet for Winchester Model 12

I have a 1943 Winchester Model 12 trench gun made in 1943. I would like to know the correct type of bayonet that was issued with it and what a nice example would command in today's market. The gun is in very nice, 95%+ condition and I would like to find a nice bayo and scabbard to go with it.

    Thanks

Same as for the U.S. M1917 rifle . . . . The M'17 bayonet and scabbard (Winchester mfg., would be preferred) --Jim

150 bucks and up for a Win bayo, 'lil less for a Rem.

Thanks guys for the info. One question -- did they remake these bayos for 1943 or
were the '43 Winchesters fitted with leftover WWI pieces. What markings should I look
        for?

        Thanks again

An excellent 1917 Winchester marked bayonet with an excellent scabbard will run $250-300 a little less for a comparable Remington. There are 3 types of scabbards that would all be correct.

All the Model 1917 bayonets are of WWI vintage and are marked 1917 or 1918. None were made after WWI until the Vietnam War era.

One of the leather type scabbards would be most correct (one has a leather tab to which the belt hook is attached, the second type has a metal fitting on top to which the belt hook is attached). The third type of scabbard is a plastic type similar to the ones for the Model 1905 bayonets. But these may have not gotten into the supply line and been issued during WWII.
