    10" PAL markings

Curious about the numbers on the obverse side of a PAL 10" bayonet.

Why is the scabbard green painted at the top?

    Thanks.

The scabbard was painted during an overhaul. Not sure on the numbers...

The scabbard was made by Victory plastics as were many of that type. The number on the blade...I think is a drawing number because I don't think PAL serially numbered their blades.

I woudl suspect use by the Italians post war, they numbered bayonets to make them accountable. In Italy Bayonets are controlled like guns it takes a permit to buy or own one.
