putting new grips/handles on bowie knife

picked up a large steel, not stainless bowie knife, it has a stag handle, it is made in USA (damn)

i hate the grip of the handle, it needs to be much thicker, Great Smokie Mountain knife works for parts??

really want to knock out the two brass pins and redo it, cherry spacer under stag?? re pin

Dixie Gun works, http://www.dixiegunworks.com/ has all kinds of knife handle blanks, rivets,guards,pommels, etc.
Once the rivets are removed you can make any size handle that you want.
