    interesting find

when i turned 16 my grandfather gave me a cof 42 k98 matching bayonet scabbard and leather frog that he brought home from wwii, and said he picked it up after battle of the bulge. its sat in its scabbard for years since he got it,and even i rarely took it out. evident by wood grip facing away from keather scabbard beingdark colored compared to other resting on the leather. metal scabbard and handle turnedthe typical plumb color, but blade in scabbard still has70% original blue.

anyways i took it out today for first time in years and put it on my k98. while looking at the lighter color grip in the light i noticed someones name written/lightly carvedabove the first grip screw. i thought was a neat find, and ill try to post a pic. maybe someone can read it.

cannot read anything but perhaps an upper case B. PS: plumb color on German bayos is not "typical". Your bayonet was made by Carl Eichorn, Solingen, Germany, observed dates 41-45.
You can never go home again.
