At least you can't claim it hasn't seen action.. lol.. The scabbard is worth more than that actually. It's not uncommon to find these beat to hell. Soldiers used these things as multi tools in the field. Opening cans, punching though cans, pry bars, shovels, etc.. They were tools to them, not collectibles..

Yes, for that money, I'd get it and have a go at restoring it to serviceable.

                  After a little work

Ok I worked on it took the knife apart reshaped the blade and straightened it I think the tip needs a little more work but I think it turned out pretty well.

Looks way better, since you can get it apart, there's no reason you can't get all the bends out of it...and now it's worth more than $5...
                      Regards, Jim

Now it's a serviceable, useable knife you only paid $5 buck for. It's $5 for that, with a history, or $5 at a flea market for a crappy pakastan made junk good for nothing but holding a half stack of papers down. So, how do you think you did?

Tudorp summed it up. Some of my favorite user knives are pieces that would make some collectors cry. They're still doing what they were made for and not one drop of guilt on my part.

                          You did well.
