    Somebody was paying attention...

....this item lasted a mere 3 hours and 33 minutes. Not me sorry to say.

    Somebody got a smoking deal.

You just have to watch. I saw a NEW M1903 from 1922 that had a $1100 BIN several months ago on GB. When I got it, the barrel was so new, my muzzle gauge would not enter the muzzle! The only thing wrong was a replacement bolt. Bargains are out there - you just have to be at the right place at the right time.

Hopefully the buyer checked with the seller. No photo shows the overall, and the seller says it is 15 1/2 inches, which may mean it is a shortened bayonet. If so, it is a decent price but not all that much of a steal as it would be if it is a 16 inch blade, 21 inches overall.

In measuring the blade on my 1942 AFH , it comes to 15-3/4 inches, and overall length is slightly under 20-1/2 inches. Also measured my Springfield 1918; the blade is 16 inches, but overall length is slightly longer than 20-1/2 inches. Is the shorter (by about 1/4 inch) blade on the 1942 AFH within the acceptable manufacturer's variation, or does this indicate a "shortened" blade that was done after it left the factory?

It is certainly possible that a WW2 M1905 may have a slightly shorter than 16 inch blade as quality control allowed for that much variation. I think however that something in the area of 1/2 inch short is less likely. But possibly the seller did not measure all that accurately.
