I am planning to clean the black paint off the blade, guard and also the throat of the bayonet. What would you suggest to clean the leather or would you leave it as is.

I take it that the handle was also painted black? Personally preference, I'd use acetone and a rough cloth to clean the paint off. I wouldn't dip the handle. After getting the paint off, I'd immediately apply a leather preservative. IIRC, they were made in 43-44?

Some 50-50 (water/liquid dish soap) with a toothbrush will clean up that belt loop. Scrub a second time with just water. Pat dry with towel. Warning: DO NOT USE Momma's good towels.

I like the note that came with them. I have one similar. A Mark 1 also.
